Individualized Instruction
Based on Level of Debater
The MMSDL 2022 Summer Debate Camp uses a four tier system to divide its students into 'labs' with a student to teacher ratio of 2:1. Debaters are organized by level into:
Novice - Focused on learning introductory elements of debate and the year's topic. Emphasis on building debate skills and understanding of Policy Debate.
Junior Varsity - Building upon student's knowledge to develop high-level skillsets and expand argument depth. Focus on improving articulation and complexity of arguments.
Varsity - Group will be focused on further strengthening debate skills for the middle school level with the goal of winning tournaments.
Rising 9th Graders - This is a new addition to the programming in the second annual MMSDL Summer Camp. This lab will introduce rising 9th graders to the complexity of high-school debate. Ks and other high school level arguments will be introduced to debaters.

Mock Debates
Lead by Experienced Staff
Part of our programming includes the immersive experiences of watching high level debaters compete on the year's topic. As such, the fourth day of the camp is dedicated to a mock-debate workshop. Students will watch national circuit policy debaters compete and then break into their labs (individual groups) to discuss and reflect with their instructors.
