All About The Summer Debate Institute at Northwestern University
Camp Days: August 1st - August 5th
Camp Modality: in-person (with a virtual option in case of emergency)
Students Serviced: rising 5th through rising 9th graders in District 65 or MMSDL member schools
The second annual MMSDL Summer Debate Camp serves students in the Evanston area who are interested in learning policy debate. The program operates under a community-building model in which we connect elementary, middle, and high school students in District 65 to develop a robust debater pipeline by fostering interest in debate from early on. Students coming out of elementary schools in District 65 get a chance to meet their future opponents and teammates at the middle school level before their 6th-grade year. The current middle schoolers have the opportunity of introducing their new team members to debate, building deeper connections, and learning from the high school debate team of Evanston Township High School. The staff is mostly composed of ETHS students, which is the high school that most District 65 students enroll in, allowing current ETHS students to interact with their future team directly.
Check-in and Check-out will be at 2233 Tech Dr, Evanston, IL 60208
